Extra-Long Lunar Eclipse Thursday Into Friday

It's been almost 600 years since we have seen a partial lunar eclipse last this long and it may not happen again in our lifetime.

November is the Beaver Moon so according to Space.com, this will be known as the Beaver Moon Partial Eclipse this Thursday night into Friday morning. This is the longest eclipse we've had in almost 600 years, the partial eclipse phase lasting 3 hours, 28 minutes, and 24 seconds.

The eclipse will actually start for us (penumbral phase) at 12:02 AM CT, however, without special equipment, you probably won't be able to see it with the naked eye until about an hour later starting at 1:18 AM.

That 97% eclipse peak they mention in the Tweet will take place at 3:03 AM Texarkana-Time.

The visible partial eclipse will be over for us at 4:47 AM Texarkana-Time.

Thursday night into Friday morning in the wee hours looks good for partial eclipse-watching and photography. Clear skies with the overnight low 36 degrees.
