There are only two of these big beautiful B-29 bombers still flying the world and this one, named Doc, is coming for a Texarkana visit later this month.

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress came along fairly late during World War II, but its impact was significant. If you are like me and you go to airshows regularly, you may have seen one of the two remaining flyable B-29 Superfortresses, their names are Doc and Fifi, but it is pretty rare indeed to get the opportunity to fly in one. Here's your chance Ark-La-Tex.

Doc was rescued from a desert boneyard in 1998 and restoration began in the year 2000, he's flying in to see you on March 22 - 26 at the Texarkana Regional Airport (TXK), that's when you can talk to the crew, touch, admire, and get up close to this historic WWII-era bomber.

Doc is based in the city where he once rolled off the assembly line, Wichita, Kansas, hangered at Eisenhower National Airport. Remember, every penny collected through selling rides, ground tours, merchandise, and donations goes toward keeping this amazing flying history in the air for all to see and experience. Doc is supported by a small army of people who volunteer their time, skills, and talent to keep Doc flying.

I have been lucky enough in my radio career to fly in a B-17 twice, a B-24, a Stearman, and a T-6 Texan 3 times. This will be my first chance at an experience with Doc and I am excited. Don't forget, I'm "Just Plane Nuts", I'll be there, will you?
