Original Story

One dead, nine other injured and the shooter is still at large. The Texarkana Texas Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened Saturday night at a Halloween party at Octavia's Event Center in Texarkana.

Several reports of Shots Fired came in at 11:56 PM Saturday night from a venue at the 2300 block of Texas Blvd and TTPD Officers responded. When they arrived the Officers discovered many still fleeing the scene and several people shot inside the Event Center. They estimate around 200 people were attending the Haloween party. The wounded were transported to local hospitals where one 20-year-old man perished from his wounds. According to the police release the other nine gunshot victims' wounds do not appear to be life-threatening.

The suspect is described as a black male, who left the scene in an unknown vehicle following the shooting. While the motive is still unknown, the preliminary investigation indicates that it may be the result of some type of disturbance among some of the partygoers.

The identity of the deceased victim is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
