Several Bowie County Deputies Shot and Local Man Arrested
Several Bowie County Sheriffs Deputies are recovering after being shot by a suspect in a bizarre incident early Sunday near DeKalb, Texas.
The Sheriff's Department says that responded after a report that a male was obstructing the Dekalb Volunteer Fire Department from putting out a house fire. The individual eventually shot several deputies and rammed several law enforcement vehicles during an ordeal which included a chase.
Chief Deputy Jeff Neil says the injured law enforcement personnel were treated and released from a local hospital. The suspect 48 year old Bryan Lee Batchelor was also injured and taken to the hospital and is in the custody of the Bowie County Sheriff's Office.
Batchelor is facing three charges of Aggravated Assault against against a Public Servant and Evading Arrest with a Vehicle.
The investigation into the fire and the ensuing events continues this morning and more charges are possible against the suspect.
