May on Main and Mayhaw Festival Worth a Trip to El Dorado

Are you up for a little road trip? May on Main kicks off the first weekend of May in historic downtown El Dorado, Arkansas with the Mayhaw Festival as well.

Visitors can enjoy the day in downtown El Dorado with May on Main Saturday, May 6, beginning at 11 AM in the Downtown Square. This festival is a collaborative effort with the
Mayhaw Festival, which begins at 8 AM on Jackson Street.

The two festivals together give everyone a full day of fun, food, music, shopping, and
another reason to experience the beautiful downtown area with all it has to offer,” said Beth
Brumley, executive director of Main Street El Dorado.

May on Main will be a fun-filled day with live music, a poker run, games, kid’s activities,
crawfish plates, and more. Admission is FREE to the festival, with some activities
requiring a small fee.

Poker Fun

The El Dorado Metals Poker Run will begin at 11 AM with registration starting at 9:45 AM. The poker run will start from the Northeast corner of the Murphy USA parking lot on Jefferson St. at the Mayhaw Festival. The last bike out will be at 11:45 AM, and all bikes must return by 3:15 PM to May on Main Festival on Elm Street. Early registration is going on now through April 21, at noon to have a guaranteed shirt. Registration is $30 per driver including a FREE T-shirt and $20 per passenger if the passenger

Fun Zone

Festival goers will have their pick of fun events and attractions that will fill downtown El
Dorado. Kids will have a blast with Gelly Ball, a rock-climbing wall, archery, kids petting zoo, and more. In addition, there will be Big Wheel Races and a Baggo competition
Registration is $10 per person. Prizes and Divisions for adults and children based on
participation.

Great Food

Enjoy the best festival food in the region and access to all the great downtown
restaurants. Goodwin’s Etc. will be cooking crawfish and shrimp plates for $25.00 as a
fundraiser for Main Street El Dorado, indulge in corn dogs and funnel cakes, or cool off with a King Kone snow cone. And be sure to enjoy the Beer Garden with plenty of liquid refreshments.

Live Music on Jefferson Street

Live music will be playing all afternoon on the square featuring the region’s best acts! It all
starts at 12:30 PM with Erick Meadows, Joel Woollen, and Cavin Kemble. At 4:30 PM gather on Jefferson Ave in front of the Courthouse for Showdown at Sunset. Relive all the excitement as actors portray historical events from 1902 on the courthouse square. Also, South Arkansas Arts Center will be giving a sneak peek performance of their summer production, “Newsies.”

Other Things to Do include:

Pick up a jar of Mayhaw Jelly at the unique Newon House on Jackson Street.

Take a FREE ride on the Queen City Train from 11 AM - 2 PM and ride around downtown.

Enjoy a magical Horse and Carriage ride around El Dorado from 1 PM -7 PM for a small fee.

After Showdown at Sunset, head out to the Union County Fairgrounds for South Arkansas Soul Fest presented by Mr. Mike Productions.
