East Texans Can Replace Old US Flags for Free
(Tyler, Texas) The US flag is a symbol of freedom and liberty. There are thousands of US flags flying on flag poles around East Texas right now.
Why American Flags Need Proper Retirement
As we proudly display the stars and stripes day in and day out in front of our businesses and homes, our flags are subjected to all kinds of weather. They will slowly fade, many will become frayed and show signs of unraveling on the ends. Eventually, the flag begins to disintegrate due to the elements. At this point, it is time to replace the flag with a new one.
With National Flag Day approaching (June 14), a local insurance company wants all of our flags to look fresh and new as we celebrate National Flag Day and Flag Week.

Free Flag Exchange Available Before Flag Day
Cozad Insurance Group is accepting worn and weathered American flags at its Tyler and Lindale offices through June 12. Bring in an old US flag, and they will exchange it for a new one completely free of charge.
How the Flag Exchange Program Works
Cozad Insurance Group has been accepting and retiring hundreds of flags over the last decade. I have exchanged several flags with them throughout that time. You simply walk in, hand over your old flags, and receive new ones in exchange.

What Happens to Retired Flags?
The insurance group has partnered with a Boy Scout troop in Lindale. These scouts will hold a special flag retirement ceremony this fall. Each flag will be carefully and respectfully folded and then burned in a special retirement ceremony.
Where to Exchange Your Flag
The flag exchange is open to everyone, not just Cozad Insurance Group clients. You can drop off flags at the following locations from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Thursday and Friday until 4 p.m.
- 619 Chase Dr. - Tyler - 3 blocks behind the old Chili's location off of Brookside Dr. (behind the radio station)
- 1428 S. Main St. - Lindale
Respect Old Glory and retire that worn-out flag. Lower it, retire it respectfully, and raise a new flag in its place.
