Charcuterie Meats Sold At Texas Sam’s Clubs Recalled – Possible Salmonella

Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc., a Mount Olive, N.J. company is recalling approximately 11,097 pounds of Busseto Foods brand ready-to-eat charcuterie meat products. The company says they may be contaminated with Salmonella. This notification came from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Busseto Foods distributed these ready-to-eat charcuterie samplers to Sam's Club stores all over Texas along with seven other states. These samplers were created on October 30, 2023.

• 18-oz. plastic tray packages containing “BUSSETO FOODS CHARCUTERIE SAMPLER Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa” with lot code L075330300 and “BEST IF USED BY APR 27 24.” The products are sold as a twin pack with two 9-oz. packages.

When checking your refrigerator, look for the establishment number “EST. 7543B” inside the USDA mark of inspection. Also check for this number, “EST. #47967”, printed with the lot and date codes. All the items in this lots code were shipped to Sam's Club Distribution Centers in the following states:

• Georgia
• Illinois
• Indiana
• Minnesota
• North Carolina
• Ohio
• Oklahoma
• Texas.

Salmonella was discovered and reported to the FSIS by the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

The FSIS and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), along with state public health partners are all working together to investigate this case.

Consuming food contaminated with Salmonella can cause salmonellosis, one of the most common bacterial foodborne illnesses. Common symptoms would include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever within 6 hours, and up to 6 days after eating the contaminated product. The Illness usually lasts about 4 to 7 days and most people recover without treatment. For some, the diarrhea can get so severe that the patient needs to be hospitalized. This severity usually only occurs in older adults, infants, and persons with weakened immune systems.
