How It Started

What started as a labor of love by the church in 1927, farmers began planting daffodil bulbs and watching them grow eventually turning into a profitable business for the church.  The flowers were then sold to people living in Oklahoma, Kansas, and Little Rock, Arkansas, according to KARK. Every year farmers would gather up all the flowers and take them to the Farmers' Market to be sold which led them to decide it would be a lot easier if people could just come out to the field near the church and pick the flowers themselves.
The 46th annual Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival is FREE and no charge for parking. The festival is located at 22300 Highway 113, in Bigelow, Arkansas. The drive to the festival is approximately 2 hours and 43 minutes from Texarkana via I-30 East.
This festival is a benefit for Wye Mountain Church, formerly a United Methodist congregation, and at one time it was the United Brethren church, built in 1928.
