Tip Toe Through The Tulips in Hot Springs, Arkansas This Weekend
The beauty of the Spring season is in full display with thousands of tulips in full bloom at Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
That's right, you don't have to go to Holland to see over 150,000 Dutch Tulips in every color imaginable in this park-like setting. You will totally be immersed as you stroll over stone bridges, winding trails, and see dazzling waterfalls at Garvan Woodland Gardens. This weekend is the peak season for viewing the Tulip Extravaganza that even musician, Tiny Tim would love to go tiptoeing through the tulips. However, tulips will not be the only thing you will see this weekend, there are other colorful varieties of flowers that are springing to life as well. Daffodils, hyacinths, azaleas, and more. Most flowers bloom around this time of the month into late April depending on weather conditions.
On my personal visit a few years ago I was able to take a few photos that I would like to share with you.
Walking through the tulips on a warm sunny day is like a small piece of heaven on earth.
There are several waterfalls at Garvan Woodland Gardens that make for some great pictures or just to sit and relax and listen to the rushing water.
This is one of my favorite bridges the half-crescent stone bridge.
While you are there you have to see the fairy villages carved out of trees.
This tree gets its name because of the large blooms that resemble a huge snowball.
This chapel is a sight to see, an all-wooden beam glass building that overlooks the mediation garden. Make sure you step inside to see the splendid beauty of this tranquil chapel in the woods.
Here's a quick video of walking through the tulips..
Garvan Woodland Gardens was named one of the Top 5 botanical gardens in America in 2012 and the 5th best Japanese garden in North America in 2013. The garden is a 210-acre botanical woodland garden set up near the shores of Lake Hamilton.
The best time to visit the gardens is during the week when it's less busy. On the weekends expect to wait in lines to get inside and parking will be limited.
More information can be found on the Garvan Woodland Gardens website or Facebook page.
This is definitely worth the 90-minute drive from Texarkana!
