What a night it was, the annual Taste of Texarkana benefitting Harvest Regional Food Bank was an incredible success for 2024, and we've got the pictures and booth winners to prove it.
The 2024 Geek'd Con Cosplay contest was pretty awesome, with some great costumes, the hosts did a terrific job as always, and some new judges brought their costume design skills and know-how to the judging for sure.
I had to work for a bit on Saturday so I wasn't able to make it right when the gates opened but about an hour later I arrived at the Wagons for Veterans 2024 fundraising event at the Four States Fairgrounds. Happily, there was still plenty of that delicious open fire and steel pot/Dutch oven food left to fill me up. Man, was it ever good.
I live in Texarkana, a fer-piece (509 miles) from Littlefield, Texas where country outlaw legend Waylon Jennings was born, but there is a legacy there that you and I can go visit anytime we are traveling through the area, it's especially nice for RV'ers because it's a free place to hook up your RV and stay the night. It's called, the Waylon Jennings RV Park.
Apparently, there are a ton of Comic-Convention-type folks in North Texas that have missed those events since the pandemic began. Well, they're back, the conventions and the folks.
