Thanksgiving leftovers were not limited to turkey and dressing this year as COVID-19 cases increased slightly in our area post turkey day. Trauma Service Area F (see charts below) which includes Texarkana, New Boston, and Paris, has a reported 42 people hospitalized, that's up a bit from 33 reported last week, 15 of those in ICU, 8 on ventilators, and thank goodness, still 0 pediatric cases. We are seeing a very slight uptick in COVID cases for the Ark-La-Tex area this week right before the Thanksgiving holiday, however, you will also notice hospital occupancy rates in our area are way down. The numbers continue to tick downward in our area, however, you will notice the vaccination percentages have gone down as well. The numbers are still slowly ticking downward in our area, The Northeast Texas Trauma Service area is now down from 5.3% to 4.7% this week in hospital capacity. According to the State numbers from the chart below, there are a total of 40 COVID patients in hospitals in our trauma Service Area F, down from 45 this time last week. Things are getting dramatically better in Northeast Texas, our Trauma Service area is down to 5.3% hospital capacity. Just a few short weeks ago we were over the 20% mark for our area which includes Texarkana, New Boston, and Paris, Texas.
