Can you believe that Arkansas is one of the most stressed states in America?

I don't know about you but I feel like life is just a little more stressful than it was just a couple of years ago. Maybe it is the fact that we care coming out of a pandemic that changed our lives forever or the fact that everything is now just so darn expensive. I am stressing out about money now more than ever.

When I talked about stressful states back in 2018, I had a routine of going to the gym at least four times a week, and that made dealing with all of the stress a little easier. I hate to admit this but my trips to the gym are far less to almost non-existent. That is mostly on me.

In terms of what states are the most stressed, WalletHub did a study on this and came up with a list of all fifty states and ranked them. Here is how they determined the list:

WalletHub compared the 50 states across 41 key indicators of stress to determine the places to avoid and achieve a more relaxing life. Our data set ranges from average hours worked per week to the personal bankruptcy rate to the share of adults getting adequate sleep.

So here are the top 5 most stressed states.

1. Louisiana

2. Nevada

3. New Mexico

4. West Virginia

5. Mississippi

So where does Arkansas fall on this list? They are 6th on the list. But why is Arkansas so high on the list? Well, they are the 6th most stressed-out state when it comes to money-related stress. They are in 3rd when it comes to health and safely related stress and they are in 24th when it comes to family-related stress.

What place did Texas come in? They are the 9th most stressed-out state in America. They are the second most stressed-out state in terms of work-related stress and when it some to family-related stress they are the 4th most stressed-out state.

Stacker used data from the 2020 County Health Rankings to rank every state's average life expectancy from lowest to highest. The 2020 County Health Rankings values were calculated using mortality counts from the 2016-2018 National Center for Health Statistics. The U.S. Census 2019 American Community Survey and America's Health Rankings Senior Report 2019 data were also used to provide demographics on the senior population of each state and the state's rank on senior health care, respectively.
