Trump’s Victory Helped Save One Donut Shop in Texas
Politics never tasted so sweet! That's at least true for the owner of Papy Donuts in Edingburg, Texas.
The victory of President Trump was a sweet success for this artisanal donut shop as well! Luz Ramos tells the Texas Tribune that her shop in the Rio Grande Valley, named after her grandfather, was on the brink of closing when she decided to go all out before closing shop.
The day after election day, Ramos announced Papy Donuts would be selling Trump donuts for just one dollar.
That's when Ramos saw an influx of customers! Ramos tells the Texas Tribune that her sales tripled and the store began making a profit again!
The Trump donut was just what Ramos, who is a Trump supporter, needed to keep Papy Donuts open!
While the donut was a success, Ramos says that it hasn't always been a sweet ride. Ramos says she has received death threats and as a result, has joined in on the Edinburg Police Department's "Business Watch" program, where police officers stop by to check up on her store on occasion.
The story even caught the attention of U.S. Rep. Monica De La Cruz, R-Edinburg, who encouraged her supporters to support the local business.
Ramos says her intention was not to antagonize anyone, and says at one point she also had a Harris donut, but noticed that the Trump donut sold better.
So now, not only can you get some delicious artisanal donuts in the Rio Grande Valley, while supporting a local business, you can also show your support for the Commander-in-Chief- and judging by the reviews, the donuts are definitely worth it.
