🔥Fire Burns RV Camper On Road in Arkansas
🔥Another Blaze Breaks Out Down the Road
An Arkansas RV motorhome caught fire near Hot Springs last week, causing a wildfire. An ARDOT cam caught the blaze.
Camper Catches Fire on Side of Road
First responders from Clark and Hot Spring counties along with eight other rural fire departments and the Arkansas Forestry Division battled the blaze on Oct. 22, after reports came in about an RV camper on fire on the side of the highway of the eastbound lane of I-30 near the 83-mile marker.
A smaller fire down the road was reported it's believed it may have been caused by debris from the camper fire.
According to fire officials, the camper was destroyed in the fire within 30 minutes, which also caused the nearby woods to catch on fire. The smoke became so thick that traffic was halted until both fires were extinguished. The Saline Courier reported that the Ouachita Fire Department fully contained the fire by 9 PM, but it still burned about 35 acres.
Another Fire Breaks Out
Another fire was reported on Saturday, Oct. 26, around the same location near Friendship, Arkansas, and shut down I-30 as thick plumes of smoke were seen for miles. Bulldozers and air tankers were brought in from the Arkansas Division of Forestry to stop the fire from spreading.
About 75 percent of the state is still under a burn ban in 51 counties, and due to drought conditions, it is designated as a high-risk area for wildfires.
An ARDOT video cam captured the massive fire. Most people commented that they were surprised that only one car stopped to lend help during the video footage.
