This is great news for the employees at the University of Arkansas Hope Texarkana. They have received a special $2,000 Blue & You Foundation Mini-Grant that will be used to install an employee workout room on the Hope campus.

We all know the importance of exercise and sometimes it's really hard to fit it into your daily schedule not to mention the extra cost. That's why this is such a wonderful benefit for the employees. The initiative is 'Step Forward in Fitness: Equipping for Better Health in Senentary Environments'. It may sound like a mouthful but when you have a profession where you sit or stand in one area most of the day, well that is not good for your health, physically or mentally.

This employee workout room will encourage the staff to take a few minutes in their day  and check out the new workout room with walking and weight lifting equipment.

Laura Clark, Vice Chancellor for Academics, knows the benefit both mentally and physically that exercise can do and is excited about the positive results it can make in the work place.

I feel our onsite faculty and staff workout room will help enhance our employees' overall health while also promoting greater productivity, higher employee engagement, and improved workplace morale.

She also touched on the fact that in a world post COVID-19 people are sitting for longer periods of time as they now take advantage of online classes or vitural meeting and never leave their desk. The UAHT Faculty Senate requested the workout room to help employees stay fit and active as our world becomes ever more sedentary.
