A First for A&M-Texarkana: University Holds Inaugural August Commencement
Texas A&M University-Texarkana had just celebrated a new milestone. This past weekend, on Friday, August 8, they held their very first August commencement ceremony.
Since the university is experiencing record growth, this summer's graduation ceremony was added to accommodate the number of graduating students and give them the chance to walk the stage now, rather than waiting until December.

The graduation ceremony began at 1 PM in the Lois & Cary Patterson Student Center on the A&M-Texarkana campus as they honored students at every level from undergraduate to graduate to doctoral.
Special speakers at the ceremony included Phillip Ray, Vice Chancellor for Business Affairs with The Texas A&M University System, who shared remarks on behalf of the System and Chancellor Glen Hagar. Rob Sitterley, President and CEO of AR-TX Regional Economic Development, Inc., delivered the commencement address, inspiring graduates as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
A&M-Texarkana President Dr. Ross Alexander stated in a press release,
We are excited to host our first ever August commencement ceremony. It’s yet another example of our growth and ascendency as a university. We congratulate our August graduates and look forward to watching them excel in their chosen fields.
The event was streamed live, but If you missed it you can still catch it at www.tamut.edu/live.
