
Texarkana Texas Man Killed After ASP Standoff in Nevada County AR
The Arkansas State Police (ASP) Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is reviewing a fatal shooting that occurred late Monday, December 1, in Nevada County. The incident unfolded during a multi-agency search for Robert Foster, 40, of Texarkana, Texas, who was wanted on several felony warrants and had reportedly made threats toward law enforcement.
Pursuit Ends in Rural Nevada County, Arkansas
According to investigators, the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office and Lewisville Police Department located Foster around 6 PM at a business in Stamps, Arkansas. Officers attempted a traffic stop, but the driver fled, leading authorities into Nevada County. The vehicle became disabled on a logging road in the Falcon community. Additional personnel from the Nevada County and Hempstead County Sheriff’s Offices responded to assist.
Four-Hour Standoff With Texarkana Man Reported
Officers attempted to negotiate with Foster as the Arkansas State Police SWAT Team was called to the scene. ASP negotiators made contact and worked for several hours to encourage him to surrender peacefully.
Gunfire Reported, Man Fatally Shot
Investigators say the standoff ended around 10 PM when Foster exited the vehicle and fired at SWAT members. Officers returned fire, striking him. Multiple firearms were later found inside the vehicle. No officers were injured.

Investigation Moving Forward
Foster’s body will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory to determine the official cause and manner of death. ASP CID will compile its findings for the Nevada County Prosecuting Attorney, who will review whether the use of deadly force complied with state law. The investigation remains active.
