Texarkana Earns 'Film Friendly Texas' Designation, which recognizes our city's readiness to support film and media production. In other words, we're ready for our close-up, Mr. Deville.

Governor Greg Abbott announced Tuesday that Texarkana has been designated as a Film Friendly Texas Certified Community by the Texas Film Commission. The recognition comes after the city completed a multi-step training and certification program that prepares local communities to host film and media productions.

The designation puts Texarkana on the map for location scouts and producers looking for unique backdrops across the state, while also promoting local job creation and economic growth through the media industry.

“Texarkana is ready to welcome film and media projects, and we look forward to the opportunities this will bring — from creative storytelling to meaningful economic growth,” said Mayor Bob Bruggeman.

Remember When: Our Own Mario Garcia was in the Town That Dreaded Sundown?

Texarkana joins more than 200 communities across the state that have received the certification. These cities work closely with the Texas Film Commission to follow industry best practices, connect local businesses with production crews, and facilitate on-location filming.

State Representative Gary VanDeaver praised the announcement, saying:

“This town has a lot of character, and we’re excited to share that with filmmakers.”

The Texas Film Commission, a part of the Governor’s Economic Development and Tourism Office, has spent over five decades promoting Texas as a destination for film, television, video games, animation, and digital media production.

So, when do the production trucks and crews start rolling in? Give it time, at least now, Texarkana is in the running.
