Is Your Street on the List? Texarkana Neighborhoods Under Boil Water Advisory

Residents in several neighborhoods in Texarkana, Texas are being advised to boil their water before using it for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, making ice, or other consumption purposes.

According to city officials, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has required the City of Texarkana's public water system to issue this boil notice due to a loss of water pressure in the affected area.

The boil water notice applies to customers in the following locations in Texarkana:

Ben Burrough Road
Yorktown Place
Keller Avenue
Gould Lane
Gould Place
Polly Circle
Polly Drive

Officials recommend bringing water to a vigorous rolling boil for at least two minutes before allowing it to cool and using it for drinking, cooking, or making ice. Of course, you can also choose to use bottled water or another safe source of drinking water until the notice is lifted.

Children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems are especially vulnerable to harmful bacteria and should take extra precautions.

City officials will notify customers once testing confirms the water is safe for consumption. At that time, a separate notice will be issued rescinding the boil water advisory.
