Some of the events will celebrate America’s 250th birthday. Other great events will focus on art and science.

One of the biggest events is a new series called “STEAM Saturdays.” These programs mix history, science, and art with hands-on activities for all ages. The Small Museum Grant, along with a private donation, is helping make this series possible.

The next STEAM is this Saturday, May 9, with an event called “Electric Flowers.” This will be a fun day where you'll learn simple circuits and create a light-up flower, perfect for Mother’s Day. The event will take place from 1 PM to 2:30 PM at the museum, located at 403 W. 1st Street South in Prescott. Registration is required, and spots are open now online.

The museum also received an Arkansas Heritage Grant, which will help fund new temporary exhibits and a reenactment of the Battle of Prairie D’Ane in 1864. The 2026 Reenactment of the Battle of Prairie D'Ane will be held the weekend of November 7 & 8, in partnership with Historic Washington State Park.

The Nevada County Depot Museum is a short drive from Texarkana. Be sure to make plans to see the battle re-enactment this fall, plus see the other great events this year. The museum is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving local history while bringing the community together through fun and educational events.
