A Michigan man, who was wanted in connection with a violent carjacking and kidnapping, was fatally shot by State Troopers in Arkansas on Wednesday afternoon following a multi-state search.

The Arkansas State Police (ASP) positively identified the suspect as 33-year-old Felipe Millan-Gomez of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Millan-Gomez was being sought by authorities after allegedly threatening a woman with a handgun during a carjacking in Manistee County, Michigan, on June 9. Investigators say Millan-Gomez forced the woman to drive before taking control of the vehicle himself.

Law enforcement agencies considered him to be armed and dangerous, and as it turns out, he was.

On  Wednesday, June 11, around 1:30 in the afternoon, ASP troopers and U.S. Marshals located and stopped Millan-Gomez on Interstate 40 East, near mile marker 180, just west of Carlisle, Arkansas. According to an ASP report, the suspect exited the vehicle and displayed a weapon. Troopers fired, and Millan-Gomez was pronounced dead at the scene.

Millan-Gomez's body will be taken to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for examination.

The ASP Criminal Investigation Division is handling the case. Once their investigation is complete, the findings will be turned over to the Lonoke County Prosecuting Attorney, who will review whether the use of deadly force complied with Arkansas law.
