When you're taking a road trip through Arkansas this summer or any town for that matter pulling into a gas station to pump gas has become very dangerous.

I've seen some pretty crazy stuff when pulling into a gas station to get some gas but have you ever seen fruit on top of the gas pump and thought someone must have been in a hurry, ran off, and forgot their fruit? Think again!

Drivers Beware

That apple or an orange or any kind of fruit for that matter could be dangerous, according to multiple reports including TexAgs that said just leave it alone, don't touch it, and get the hell out of there as quickly as possible.

Why is it Dangerous?

In some cases, drug dealers are watching you at the gas pump, allegedly if you pick up the fruit that signals to the dealer you may want to buy some drugs. That sounds crazy and bizarre that someone would use this as a method for dealing drugs but it's happening across the country and has local law enforcement officials on the alert. You don't want to be the person who has to explain yourself out of this situation it might land you in some hot water with the law.

Stay Alert

It's best to always be on alert for your surroundings when pulling into a gas station because you never know who may be watching from around the corner or from another vehicle. If you think you are being threatened in any kind of way, don't hesitate to call the police or another local law enforcement agency. You can always go inside to tell management about the situation chances are they will have video footage if someone tries to approach you.

Is This Real or Not?

If this is some kind of new endeavor that criminals are doing it's sick or maybe it's just some kind of hoax to make you believe something illegal going on. While there are several reports of this nationwide, I was unable to find anything legit to make this viable after going to snopes.com, a website that lets you know if something is real or a scam. This particular story on social media goes hand in hand with another one that also says drug dealers drive around with their headlights off, and if you flash your lights they will chase you down thinking you want drugs.

Whether any of this is true remains to be seen but it always pays to be safe than sorry because, in this day and age, you can never tell. You can make your conclusion but most likely it's just a hoax or scam.
