Broad Street’s Sweetest Addition, Is Kilwins Coming to Downtown Texarkana?

It is great to see Texarkana grow and to see our downtown revitalized with wonderful local shops, art, restaurants, and clubs. Now, it looks like something new might be coming to the downtown Texarkana area.

There is no "official" announcement yet, but there is a photo circulating on Facebook by Experience Texarkana, of a building downtown on Broad Street next to Logan Electric with a sign that says,

Coming Soon! Kilwins, Chocolates, Fudge, Ice Cream

Kilwins has two locations in Arkansas, one in Hot Springs and the other in Little Rock. They also have 11 locations in Texas. Altogether, they have 187 locations in 30 states.

According to the Kilwins website, the shop was the brainchild of Don and Katy Kilwin back in 1947 in Michigan. The couple wanted to make the best product they possibly could. They still serve their original ice cream recipe. They also make chocolates and fudge.

How exciting to have a store like this come to the Texarkana downtown area. We don't have a time frame of when the store will open, provided these aren't just rumors,  but it sure would be a great addition to our historic downtown area and a tasty one, too.
