So picture this, you're driving along at 70 miles per hour (it could happen!), and suddenly your car door opens! Startling, at the very least, and dangerous at the very worst. A Ford Motor Company recall, in effect right now, involving many vehicles registered right here in Arkansas, says that very thing could happen.

Listen up Arkansans, if you own a 2015 Ford Fiesta, 2016 Fusion, or 2016 Lincoln MKZ, Ford needs you to bring it in to be inspected for this new Recall notice issued on December 4. According to Kelly Blue Book, there are a large number of Ford owners in the Great State of Arkansas that have these models. Approximately 45,000 cars are being recalled for this issue, not only in Arkansas, but also in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma, Oregon, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Washington, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands (Saipan), and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The recall is to correct a component inside the door latches that may break, which makes it difficult to latch, or possibly allow the doors to open while driving. Vehicle doors opening unexpectedly while driving can increase the risk of a crash or injury according to the recall notice on KBB.

What Is The Remedy

Dealers have been instructed to inspect the door latch date codes and if necessary, replace all four side door latches, at no cost to the vehicle owner. Owner notification letters were supposed to go out in letter form on Monday, December 4, 2023.

If you have one of these vehicles and would like more information, contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford’s recall number for the issue is 20S15.

This recall is an expansion of NHTSA recall number 20V-177.
