Have you heard a 14-year-old girl from Avery, Texas deer hunting on federally managed land at Red River Army Depot in Bowie County may have just broken a Texas state record for the biggest buck a 31-point buck?

Reili Brewer who is an avid hunter was hunting with her father Rickey Brewer who is employed by Red River Army Depot near Texarkana and has access to the land that is federally managed for the purpose of growing the whitetail population in the heavily wooded terrain. The deer are free to roam the 12,000 to 13,000 acres with no high fences, according to a report from KLTV7 in Tyler, Texas.

The two were hunting this past Sunday in a cold rain when Reili texted her father who was back at his truck changing into warmer clothes when he heard the gunshot go off. The Brewers have been keeping their eye on the huge buck with a massive rack for about 3 years and came really close to getting it a year ago.

Reili has been hunting for around three years and captured a 13-point the first year and an 11-point last year so this by far is the biggest she has ever harvested. A taxidermist in Terrell scored the buck as 238 1/8, the state youth record currently stands at 209 so if the record holds it could become a state record but it will take up to 60 days before it can be officially scored if it all holds up.

In the meantime, Congratulations to Reili Brewer and her father Rickey. The Brewers also have a lease in Red River County in Arkansas.
