Have You Seen The Haunted Jefferson Hotel Lately?
My wife and I stayed at the beautiful Jefferson Hotel many "full moons" ago in a couple of supposedly haunted rooms hoping to get a little ghostly action... we basically got bupkus. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen to other folks that stay there. Just not us. Phantom friends or not we had a great time at the Hotel that weekend oh so many years ago in Jefferson, Texas. Question: Have you seen the Jefferson Hotel lately? It has changed a bit.
By A Bit, I Mean A Lot
Under previous ownership of the Jefferson Hotel, they embraced the haunted stories, encouraged people to write down their experiences in a book at the front desk. The book was full of ghostly encounters, EVPs (Electronic Voice Phenomenon) recorded voices that you didn't hear at the time of recording only in playback, unexplained knocks and bumps, feelings to dread, odd smells and such.
The Lobby
The new owners have taken the potential ghostly encounters to a whole new level, if you're looking for a place that just might creep you out, try Room 14, the Doll Room...
Let me just say this... No, to the Doll Room.
Or Room 19 simply titled, Haunted Bride...
Meet Eddie
Eddie is a creepy doll that was brought into the hotel shortly after the new owners acquired the place, Eddie moves sometimes... yikes! Check out the video below posted from The Jefferson Hotel's YouTube page, this capture was during an active investigation and there is some salty language. There are a lot of videos for you to watch by the way.
Eddie is now in his own case next to the Doll Room, not sure if that's to protect him... or you.
During our Ghost Walk tour around the town of Jefferson (more on that later), the hotel owner allowed us to come inside the renovated Jefferson Hotel and gladly showed us a few videos of some things caught on camera, he has cameras all over the place by the way. This one was great, he tells the story in the video:
What To Bring
Your fun-loving self, some ghost hunting equipment if you have it, and maybe some clean undies just in case you get touched by someone or something you can't see. By the way, if you don't have any ghost hunting equipment, the hotel will be happy to rent you some. I know right!
What NOT To Bring
Parents with children that have "grabby-hands syndrome" - you know, kids that can't keep their mitts off stuff they shouldn't be touching - yeah, they need to stay at home, there is stuff everywhere in this hotel now. This can be a really fun weekend for the adults, not recommended for the kiddos.
