Enjoy Texarkana’s Sesquicentennial Kick Off With ‘Stone Soup’ This Saturday
It's 2023 and now it's time to kick off the celebrations throughout the year for Texarkana's Sesquicentennial. The Texarkana Museums System will be hosting the Sesquicentennial Stone Soup this Saturday, January 7.
The event will take place from noon until 2 PM at the Museum of Regional History located at 219 North Stateline Avenue in downtown Texarkana.
Join the fun and grab a bite to eat as members of the Literacy Council of Miller & Bowie Counties will read Stone Soup. Enjoy a lunch featuring Stone, Vegetable, and Potato Soups, plus breads, and apple cobbler for dessert.
What is Stone Soup?
According to Wikipedia; Stone Soup is an old folk story where strangers come to a village and ask the villagers to share a small amount of food each to make enough food for everyone.
Museum Curator, Jamie Simmons said in a press release
Bringing people together and creating a community exemplifies how our town - born in two states - has prospered for 150 years.
How Can I Find Out More Information?
The event is sponsored by Stone Studio in downtown Texarkana and help from Jason’s Deli. The cost is $5 for Museum Members and $10 for non-members.
