Don’t Panic! Texarkana Airport Will Have Emergency Drill Oct 11
If you see a lot of commotion at the Texarkana Regional Airport tomorrow Tuesday, October 11 don't worry too much, it's an emergency exercise. This is only a test. Emergency exercises like this are always a good thing.
Why Is Texarkana Regional Airport Doing This Drill?
Every three years the Texarkana Regional Airport has a full-scale airport emergency exercise. This is a required event every three years by the Federal Aviation Administration for commercial service airports. The emergency exercise will begin at 11 AM.
How Will This Drill Help TXK Airport?
This test is to help improve emergency responses if an actual emergency aircraft event was to take place. This will also include not only airport fire and security departments but city departments too, including police, fire and medical first responders.
What Will The Public See? Will This Affect Actual Flights?
City and airport officials want to let the public know and be aware that they may see a lot of emergency vehicles heading toward the airport and the airfield. But, once again it is only a test.
The regular commercial flight will not be affected. The drill will take place in a separate area as not to alarm passengers or disrupt flight schedules.
You can find out the latest information about this emergency training event on the Texarkana Regional Airport's Facebook Page.
