You may have noticed that work is being done at the former Redwood Grill restaurant at 2415 Arkansas Blvd.

The building is being transformed into an ocean-type beach theme for a new upscale seafood restaurant and bar. The building has a new paint job to reflect the owner's vision, Troy Nipper a local business owner is excited to soon be offering Texarkana a restaurant that you can be proud of. Pelican Fish and Seafood, the name of the restaurant will be offering some of the freshest and top-quality seafood in the Texarkana area along with some specialty dishes you won't find anywhere else. The restaurant is expected to have a Louisiana flair to its food cooked up by some really great cooks. In addition to the great food, they will also have a full-service bar serving all your favorite domestic, and imported beers along with a great wine selection.

It will be a great place to gather with friends and family for those special occasions. A couple of weeks ago he offered workers and friends some gumbo, Jason Springer who has been doing a lot of the building renovation said,

"It was off the hook." The best gumbo he's ever tasted hands down

There's still some sprucing up to do inside before the restaurant will be open. I'll keep you updated on the progress and when it's set to open.

One thing's for certain, Summer is going to be great at the Pelican.
