2020 Census Requires Ward Adjustments in Texarkana, Texas
The City of Texarkana Texas is giving you the opportunity to voice your opinions on redistricting proposals at the upcoming City Board meeting on Monday, April 4.
The review of the 2020 census data has revealed that a population imbalance exists in three of the six wards that make up Texarkana, TX. With this in mind, the City has retained the services of Bickerstaff Heath Delgado Acosta LLP to assist with the redistricting process.
The census data review showed growth in population for Ward 5, and decreases in population for Wards 1 and 2. Therefore, redistricting of the wards in Texarkana, TX to help equalize population representation within each ward. After a recent council workshop, drafts of these ward changes have been drawn up and can be seen on the city’s website. You can also obtain hard copies of the proposed plan at City Hall, 220 Texas Blvd, Texarkana, Texas 75501.
The City Council is seeking citizen input in the redistricting process as well and you are invited for the public comment period on Monday, April 4th, 2022, then continue until Monday, April 18th, 2022 at 5 PM. A public hearing is also scheduled by the City on Monday, April 11th, 2022, during its regularly scheduled meeting.
